About Sundance Ranch Road and Bridge

 

The Road and Bridge Committee Mission -- The mission of the Sundance Ranch (SR) Road and Bridge committee is to ensure that the ranch roads, gates and bridges remain up to ranch standards as defined by the Sundance Ranch Board of Directors.

This site will keep you informed as to the lastest information concerning the roads and bridges in the ranch community. The links to the left, provide you a quick and convient means to navigate the R&B site to get to the information you want. If you have a need to contact the committee, please use the "Contact" link to the left of each website page.

Rebuilding the roads and bridges is a complex, time consuming, and expensive endevour. There has been much discussion about the use of concrete ribbon curbs at our annual meetings. First, the use of the curbs, retains the asphalt, and allows the roads to last more than three times as long. This means that the cost of roads with concrete ribbons is actually lower that that of roads without the ribbons because of their longer lifetime. The cost uplift is only 25% of that without ribbons. It is for that reason that the SR board has made the use of ribbons on all rebuilt roads a standard. For more information on the SR standard, use the "Road Standard" link.

 

Site Overview -- The Current Tasks link, in the left menu bar, will inform you about the tasks that are being conducted presently by the committee, while the "Prior Tasks" link will provide you information on tasks conducted by the committee in the past. The encoding of tasks is that we use the end of the year to denote the task. For example, "Task 7" is work that was done in 2007 (actually summer 2006 to summer 2007), and "Task 10" would be work done in 2009-2010. The "15 Year Plan" link (developed in 2007) will show you what the long term plan for the ranch road and bridge effort is and how well we are progressing towards following it. It will show you what work has been accomplished and what work has yet to be accomplished.

The Road Standard link, in the left menu bar, will explain what the ranch road standard consists of when it was approved by the board of directors. The Maintenance link will identify any issues that are under maintenance or in need of maintenance. The R&B News link will give you up to date information concerning the roads, gates and bridges in the ranch. In this way, you can check to see if we are already aware of an issue and need not report it. The "Curr Weather" link will take you to the Sundance Observatory weather station in the ranch. The "About R&B" link, which is this page, will inform you of the mission of the SR Road and Bridge Committee. The "SR Web Site" link will take you to the ranch web site.
