Before work started on Paint Pony, one could see considerable damage to the road surface. This damage was due in part because the original asphalt surface was not sufficiently thick and also beacuse the road base was neither deep enough nor strong enough to hold up to the traffic and water penatration. Below one can see some of the existing road damage.
